The Clown is a mix of pieces cut out from other collections, for the sole purpose to reunite them here, as they all have in common that they express what I would call the ‘characteristics of the clown’, which is a deep sadness covered up by funny gestures, and a deep melancholy covered up by clownesk parading that showcases the archetypical Fool. A strong element of ‘clownish’ behavior is innocence, and this music expresses it.
